:\ I don't want to loose all genuine feedback that took me a year to gain though.

I mean, in every post it has iTrader: 42 or whatever, can't you make them separate tabs in the profile, but have the number combined from the old and new system on each post.

I'm not saying they are all fake... that's the problem... there's no way to know which ones are valid or not valid. Even "real" ones might not be valid as far as our rules go (iTrader for a review or something free/cheap for example).

One point that i would like to make on this subject is:

There is slight flaw here... If we use the INSTANT PAY OPTION; then it will allow someone to give a feedback on that deal.. But for website hosting companies, like mine For Example... The transaction would take place through our payment system because that is the way that legitimate hosting companies use (instead of, Hey!, you pay me via paypal and ill set it up for you)...

How much would this affect us?

    Regards,
    M1chael

Would this mean that the members of DP would not worry so much about I-Trader when purchasing or looking for services?

I cant see what the fuss is to be honest, A bit of common sense will give you that shadow of doubt about someone , if you get that then its up to you to decide whether you want to risk that amount of money in dealing with a person, We all do it everyday online with dealing with new people. If its for larger sums of money then you should be using escrow anyway and not paypal . Its another one of these "look at me" " look at my forum status" Situations where really no one gives a flying pig what itrader you have, if you have a product , service or anything else that someone else wants then they will weight up the risk and decide what to do .

I dont think i ever look at Itraders unless something really doesnt seem right about the person im dealing with and even then i usually google them and dig up as much info as i can before dealing with them properly. It take seconds to find out enough about people, especially webmasters that plaster them selves over thousands of webmaster forums.

Move on , get used to the new system and get it over with. Everyone will be fine with in a week of it being live.

Well i request you to leave the itrades as it is and when you launched the new system then do something like that we can't add new itrades to the current system but leave the itrades permanently for proof, details. We've spend years to get 100's of positive itrades and will not feel well when we start again with Zero.

Isn't there any way to make this possible for iTraders instead of a new rating system?
I mean, people will be eligible to give iTraders only after using instant pay?

Shawn, a lot of the iTraders are valid however.

I think you should just combine the old system with the new, and make all future ratings go through the DP system.

I agree with bk871 last post. That is what the ideal system should be because at least out of 30 itraders i don't think one can have more than 6 fake itraders.Just my thoughts

Well a valid concern, I am pretty sure the new system won't be much effective for people like you
But all in all the itrader has a weightage once new system comes with INSTANT PAYPAL the ratings will go down for sure
But then slowly either people would use it more to increase count or ignore it and keep trading and will have a less weightage for ratings and just keep doing trading
Depends on business how is it done

I predect a 20% drop in member activity by the end of month one, once this system comes into place. Its probably going to be a good cleaning.

I don't think it will be that much. Only about 10% of all users even use the Buy/Sell/Trade section at all. But I'd be more than happy to see a 20% drop in B/S/T activity if it means the scammers moved somewhere else.

If the worst 20% of B/S/T went elsewhere, it would be 2% of member activity, which sounds like a good thing.

If we make it harder and harder for people to scam other people, eventually they will go elsewhere where it's easier (domain ownership verification is already in place, the beginning of the instant pay system... more is coming). :)

Maybe make a 'pay me' button that people can put into replies to WTB threads (and contest threads :D) ?

So this instant pay will only use Paypal or also possibly implement other options like MB or Alertpay?
