Yeah, overall the update seems good, sure there's a learning curve involved but I am curious to see how DP can expand its Marketplace to better serve, it's a top resource for a lot of people and while iTrader had its faults, it was a good guide to new people especially, curious to see what extended options could be implemented to either replace it, or further "qualify" someone?

I do like more verification methods for the account btw and I think a few other things, like phone verify with SMS and/or another type of feedback system to aid new users especially, in explaining how things work.

I thought the old iTrader was going to be kept for a little while, in parallel with the actual system, but I don't see it anywhere.

Anyway, to keep it short, I really don't like the actual design. Not that I've lost all my iTrader points here (although that's actually a huge deal as well), but this is also bad design. Bloated, crowded, much less intuitive etc.

By the way, is it me or we really can't see the HOUR anymore when a post was published in a topic, but just the date?

The changes as they are now, will defiantly have a HUGE negative impact in the marketplace section of this site, and decrease the overall number of people coming to DP.

    1) Over the years I have hired coders, artists, web site designers, and WordPress specialists, to mention but a few.

But, now I cannot even place an advertisement to try and find what I need.

As the word begins to spread, the people that offer those services, and the people that use them will just stop coming to DP because they no longer will be able to find what they need, and will begin to use other sites.

    2) Each and every time I hired somebody, I always checked their feedback ratings.

But, now there will not be any rating system at all for these types of services.

Which of course will mean, many unhappy clients who did not get what they thought they were going to receive.

Of course, this will eventually hurt DPs reputation, and many of the people that used to use the marketplace, will no longer come to the site.

    3) I also used to pick up a little work here every now and then.

In the 24 hours since the new rules have been in place, I have noticed a substantial drop off in the number of advertisements by people looking for the service that I provide since they are NO longer allowed to place an ad, because of the new rules.

    4) My recommendations for solving the problems I am concerned about, as well as quite a few other people.

    A) Bring back the ITrade along with the comments, I loved them.

    B) Allow people that want to “BUY” something to place their ads without any restrictions.

Somebody that is looking for a service that cost $10, $20, or $50 is NEVER going to spend the money that a premium membership cost.

They will just stop coming here and find someplace else.

    5) On a side note, I am the only one that thinks a marketplace for DP “Likes” is going to pop up, like the one for Facebook, which is a total scam.

I have been a member here a longtime, and knowing it like I do, some smart coder is already working on selling DP likes.

Just to toss my hat into the mix, but first off thanks to Shawn and DP for plenty of hard work, it's a great forum and while I'm not a heavy poster, I read extensively on here. I also use the marketplace heavily for either finding jobs or hiring someone for quick work.

I do agree @billaaa777 that people should be able to post a BUY in the marketplace with no restrictions, while someone promoting their own services, I agree with having limitations (either post amount and/or being registered for x amount of time). I think you'll have a significant drop in postings as many people signup on DP to post for a job or service they need taken care of.

I did know of the iTrader move back in 2010, so while people are frustrated with the lack of knowledge, I did see it available and was aware, granted I also do extensive research and probably go a little overboard with reading. But at the same time, it was there and I do understand why a mass PM may not be the most effective method, because a large amount of users don't use iTrader (at least not regularly). One thing I do appreciate about DP is its lack of numerous messages, pms, etc, it expects a level of self-awareness and I respect that.

I also liked iTrader, it wasn't a great system but it did the job and was easy enough to understand. I can also see and agree with the move to only having feedback for verified transactions, I think that's a great idea. I do feel it might enhance the transactions and feedback area if there was more FAQ/Help style tutorials available, that way someone who is new to the system, does have an available resource they can lean on for support. I haven't personally used the system through its entirety yet but am interested to do so. Therefore I can't comment on all of TechSole's concerns but I do see his frustration with the learning curve of the new system. Perhaps some sticky posts in the Marketplace would be a helpful step in further education?

I also develop large sites and any major upgrade is a serious nightmare, especially when functionality is modified or removed. I realize you'll never make everyone happy, feedback is important but I also know Shawn and his team are doing what they feel is best. Another item to consider is the unique struggle they have to face: there isn't a standard for this, all other Marketplace/Feedback systems are based only on verified transactions (which makes sense) and are centered around heavy costs for the Seller, DP is one of the few places that moves away from that and I do feel they're ultimately trying to help the Seller here have quality opportunities, while still protecting the Buyer.

Overall, it was a solid upgrade and I'm excited to see how the changes will evolve the forum more over the next few months.

    @shawn

IMHO, I think you should consider a poll before removing iTrader from the system.
Voters eligibility: Members who have 10+ iTraders.
After all, these people contributed so much for DP. So let them decide.

You can still see your iTrader from the Marketplace tab on your profile. If there was going to be a vote it would be open to everyone. Only letting people vote who have a bunch of iTrader would skew the results. lol

Either way, there is no iTrader code for this site any longer anyway... so no way I could turn it on even if I wanted to (without building it from scratch).

this is a 24-page topic so i can't read all of them.. i had more than 100 itraders (all positive) but i am not sure what is going on.. now i see that i have 57 likes.. how this happens? so the"likes" system is the mark which will help us to say if someone is reliable or scam? how can i "like" or "recommend" someone after a smooth/honest transaction?

No, Instant Pay is what you are looking for (the replacement for iTrader). You can link your PayPal account to your Digital Point account here: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/account/third-party-accounts

Then you can let buyers pay with "Instant Pay".

You can see your legacy iTrader rating on your user profile under the "Marketplace" tab.

No like is represent Reps points which was part of previous forum software vBulletin! It's not related for your Buy, Sell and Trade records! You can find your old iTrader at : https://forums.digitalpoint.com/members/comfis.44312/#marketplace

It clearly says: Legacy iTrader rating: 114 - (100.0%)

iTrader is now gone, now we have more accurate system which is Instant Pay which verify transitions and buyers and sellers will have an option to do feedback and it shows on your feedback page (Marketplace).

It will take time but we surly adjust with it.

Instant pay through DP is not completely ready I think. I sell Article Writing Service here, so the rate is not fixed, then how I accept payment through DP platform. Suppose one client buys 5 articles from the Article Writing Service thread and another client buys 10 articles from the same thread, how to accept 2 different payments from same thread. The answer is you can not accept. I think DP should consider this fact, the Payment Platform is not ready completely.

Right... it's not an ideal solution for services... obviously it's geared more towards products at this point.

If you take my opinion, you should retain the iTrader system. I know you take this decision to make the DP clean from scamming business. But If you take this step it may be more affective, to post a service in BST thread you have to pay a Fee or only Premium Member can post their services. Or only Premium member post a certain number of threads per month in BST section, no more than that. If you are a genuine Service Provider you surely go for a Premium Membership. Every other Forum has this rule, even the Freelancer site charge Fees to the Service Provider, why not DP?

I found the iTrader in my profile page, but I'm quite sure it wasn't there yesterday, when I asked.
lol. So there's nothing to do about that? I guess it's useless to compare the number of service topics with the number of product topics posted here. Most of the people who were posting in the marketplace did it for hiring/getting hired, not for selling ebooks or themes. This is what made DP so popular.

After talking to some friends and seeing the reactions to this update, I really think most people who used to buy and sell services here will go away and find alternatives (eventually build their own). Let's hope for the best, though.

Think about what Shawn wrote for a moment: "at this point." I've no idea what's coming, but those words suggest to me that the current system will be added to (at some point in the future). The changes are positive and going all premium as you mentioned - well, there's nothing to stop a scammer buying premium membership. These changes are a good step forward, it always takes time to adjust to change though, doesn't it?

If you're a good service provider, it's not worth worrying about a bunch of numbers. Anyone with half a brain will be (or should be) looking at previous posts and threads to know if it's good to do business with the individual (or not), looking for things like posts from happy/unhappy customers, etc.
