I'm trying to transfer my wordpress blog to a new host but it's proving impossible. My new host is a multidomain account whereas the old one only had this blog hosted. I've tried using myPHPAdmin to export all the database tables and then import them on the new host. I then copied over all the files from the old host to the subdirectory that hosts this particular domain on the new host. It just breaks everything. What am i doing wrong?? I can't use the wordpress import/export feature because my blog is way bigger than 2MB (there's tons of pictures). Thanks!
I just went through the annoying process of doing this myself last night. While I could explain exactly what I did, I think I'll just give you this link straight from the WordPress Codex : http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server. Scroll down a little to the heading "If You Want Your Old Blog To Still Work" and follow those instructions. If you have any questions, or need help, just ask and I can try to help more.
Give us more information then "It just breaks everything" Are you getting any error messages? What is the problem exactly?
hey there give me a shout if you are still having isue i will move it for you!! No cost i just want to helpout!!
Did you backup your wp-content/uploads folder , if yes then there would be no problem First go to your old host Export your Wordpress Export File. and safely download all the images themes and plugins. Then move over to new host Try to import the Wordpress import file after uploading the wp-content folder. You will get your blog back in some time. You will need to activate plugins only and theme of course. If you need help be sure to ping me..
