Transferring my HTML site to Wordpress - Is This Possible?

    Hi guys,

Is it possible for me to transfer my html site to wordpress but set it up first on a temporary domain so that there is no downtime for my website?

For example the current site is on mysite.com (with a different host) so would I be able to start building the wordpress transfer on my new host under a different domain say mysite2.com and then transfer everything I've done from mysite2.com to mysite.com when I point that domain to my new host? Is this possible or will it cause complications?

Thanks for any help or suggestions on the best way to do this.

There will be complications. But you can achieve pointing your domain2 to domain1 using the htaccess file. Regarding HTML to wordpress, you can achieve that. But get some experts with you.

If I point domain 2 to domain 1 in the htaccess file will that correct the links? So it won't be domain2.com/blah-blah but it will change to domain1.com/blah-blah?

    Is this correct?

the best option is to create the wp pages install the plugin html on pages and then when you are ready to migrate chage the domain in the options table to the new domain (entries - "siteurl" and "home")

Yes Altug, for domain forwarding you've to have both the nameservers has to be pointed the sites hosted server. and for domain masking, just ask your domain registrar(in your case Godaddy) so that they can help you out.
