ya it's possible , in this case you need to set up lan between the two pc, make sure that the two computer have the same workgroup name then can can easilly browse the shard folders in the second computer

to access to the shared folders on the second computer navigate to My network places the in the left panel choose view workgroup computers
i'm assuming that you using windows xp in both computer

what spidro said is a good and simple method, but sometime it's happened that due to firewall it will make you unable to connect to another computer in the same network. I used to try to do the same and i met this problem. I fixed it by using FTP server program to open ftp port on the computer you would like to get data. then connect from another computer through ftp (can use IE or ftp program) i would recommend to use "Serv-U FTP Server" software.

ps. do this method if spidro's method doesn't work.

AIM or Messenger programs is a good idea if the file is small or medium size. (good suggestion though) I'm using this methods too. Even email the file to my own email and get it from anywhere. but for BIG file i think using Lan network or ftp still a better choice.
