When you transfer a domain and a website what are the steps that need to be taken? Also how long should it take to transfer a domain and website? I'm interested in website flipping and I wanted to know the basics of changing ownership of a site.
    Thanks

Simple. Ak your buyer to create a free account at your registrar so that you can push the domain. Its free :)
EG: Pushing domains between account in Godaddy. You need to pay renewal fees if its a transfer between registrar.
Website? Jusat zip all file and send to buyer. Easy and simple. Goodluck. Cheers

If you just want to push the domain then you can do for free at name.com, enom.com However some registrars need a renewal charge.

You may also transfer the domain to other registrar. The steps to transfer the domain is below:
    1. Contact the current registrar for the EPP key
    2. Contact the new regisrar, place the domain transfer order with the EPP key
    3. Approve the verification/approval emails regarding to the authorizing a transfer at the registrant email address.
    4. It may take 7 business days for transfer to complete.

Once the domain is transferred, you can change whoid info, nameserver etc as per buyer's choice.
