I have paid for my last domain on registerfly to be transferred to namecheap and its taking for ever.

I know registerfly really sucks and everything with them takes way too long. I've read that domain transfers can take up to 7 days. Is this true?

It's really annoying because I just got a new webhosting and the domain that is being transferred is my new one and there is really no point in updating the dns settings on it to point to my new hosting since it'll just be transferred in a couple days or should be anyways.

Does it normall take 7 or even longer to transfer a domain? I don't remember it taking this long when i transferred to registerfly from godaddy.

Well, 7 days is possible but I had one which was like 10 days before the transfer was void and I got my money back.

Did you get the confirmation email from Namecheap and RegistryFly as yet ?

You can actually change the DNS settings to your new hosting while the domain name is transfer, all the details will remain apart from the registrar name. You can transfer hosting while at registerfly as the DNS details are not affected. The transfer between registrar is transparent.

A point to note, you need to unlock the domain name at registerfly and also cancel all privacy add-ons that it comes with.

I went ahead and changed the dns on registerfly. i hope it doesnt back anything up longer then it already is.

I set my host's name servers as the default ones for my namecheap account. So When a domain gets added to my account, it should automatically point it to my host's nameservers which is great.

I haven't gotten a confirmation email yet. I keep checking all of my email accounts to see if i got one, but nothing yet.

The email should go to the one that is used as Owner of the domain name. If you do not hear from Namecheap in 48 hours, contact them via email to see what is going on. They are a helpful bunch.
