If you own the domain name, it would be quite simple.

At the existing Registrar, you just unlock the domain name and make sure that all Privacy Protection Settings are Disabled.

At the new registrar, locate the link to 'Transfer Domain' then enter the existing domain names you want to transfer. Go pay for a year's worth of domain name registration fees (some places have special transfer pricing). This will tag an additional year to your expiration date so you have nothing to lose.

Then once you place the order, you need to wait. First you will get an email from the new registrar to confirm the transfer, this will be sent to the email address listed at the Domain Whois Record. You will probably need to confirm the transfer. This can happen in a few hours or a few days later.

Then a few days or hours later, you get an Email from the new registrar to confirm the same thing.

If the transfer fails, the domain name would remain at your old registrar and the fees paid at the new registrar would be refunded to you. So basically, you lose nothing.

All in all, it should take anywhere between 2 to 7 days to complete the transfer.
