You have to have access to the registrar to update the nameserver information, correct? I'm designing a largescale local companies site and for some strange reason they are changing hosting companies. New management bought them out and nobody has access to the registrar yet some guy keeps telling them they do not need access, but I think they do. Please confirm. Thanks.
As of my experience most of the good companies give access to update the nameserver but small companies didn't give.
They got hosting with a large place, hostname. Are you saying hostname may have the ability to update the nameservers without us having access to the registrar? That sounds like it could present a problem of domain hijacking...
Yes. Do a whois lookup on the name to find out who the admin/tech contacts are. They can update nameservers. If they lost the login, then the login reset will be sent to the E-mail addresses on file. If they no longer have those E-mail accounts, then someone needs to fax/mail them proof of ownership.
yes, most companies should allow you to update the nameservers unless they are like 1 and 1.com where once you stop with your account you have to have your domain transferred to another company.
