Transfer Domain To Another Registrar

    I want to move a domain name from one registrar to another. I am doing this because of pricing. If I move my domain name to another registrar, will I still be paying the same amount for the yearly fee, or I could get a cheaper rate?

    If you transfer your domain, you will be paying the new registrar's rates (the cheaper rate), not the current registrar's higher rate. In addition, many registrars have coupons offering discounts on transfers. Google for coupon codes.

    Depends on the new registrar. It may cost higher or lower.

    Some registrars even included free domain privacy protected service and free lifetime domain if you host your website with them.

    You will probably have to pay for a years registration up front - it's a transfer fee that gives you another year's registration. A sign of good faith to the registrar that you'll be able to pay in the future.

    As people have said, you'll need to look at the registrar's prices to see if they'll be lower or higher. One thing to also look at is the renewal prices as well since you'll be paying for renewals eventually assuming you don't transfer your domain again.

    Also, when it comes to transferring your domain, make sure that your email address in the Whois is up-to-date as that is where you'll receive the authorization email. The transfer can't complete without it and it's easier to check it first, so you don't have to have the auth email resent, which slows down the process.
