I used yahoo with a deal for 1$ domain a few years back. after that...it charged me automaticly 12$ and the next year a lot more...something like 31$ ....it was too late when i noticed. but i did not cancel in time...so they tried charging the card that was empty....after a lot of warning about shutting down the domain i want to transfer it to a different domain seller. but do i still have to pay them the charge of 31$ that they billed me? if i go to another registrar, can they just take the name from yahoo...or only after i pay :)

    thanx

You dont need to pay if you had transfered before expiry. If it already expired then you need to pay for it.

If the domain is not registered by someone else, then you may register it from the other place direct.

You should not need to pay for it, expired or unexpired with Yahoo. You may need to pay no matter what with your other registrar - just because that's what they do. Charge you a transfer fee and add a free year to your registration. Good Luck!

thats why nobody should buy 1$ domains. that price is not possible for a domain reseller (even if directly registered by icann)
