Hi I read ShoeMoney's post ("Stop Caring About Search Engine Traffic Already") on reminding us to build traffic from other sources than search engines. This sounds interesting. Let's do a recap, would you? Shoemoney already suggested: - giving people an easy way to set the website as the startup page - integrating the website in other applications Let's figure out some more: - bookmarks - email newsletters and other email advertising campaigns - links from heavy traffic websites (how to get those?) - links from other websites in the same field Other suggestions?
Indeed, search engines are the main websites that drive traffic to websites most of the time. For me, I have Firefox's default page as my homepage but the main motive is that there's google integrated into that page. Most first visits are from search engines, after which, it will be return traffic that keep the traffic up.
definately relying only on search engines is not a solutions at all. Search engines change their ranking algo all the times and u cannt control everything. One has to go for other sources of promotion..
You just have to let the search engines do their own job. I would say with good quality of content, there's shouldn't be a problem getting a growing amount of traffic.
