Ok this is a hypothetical scenario. If someone is giving you a website, and you have 2 options to choose from, which would you choose: A. Website with 500 unique visitors per day with 50% conversion rate B. Website with 3000 unique visitors per day, conversion rate unknown! (p.s. those are the starting figures, you can improve on them after taking over the site) both sites in the same niche. Which site would you take?
Definately conversion rates....but I guess it depends entirely on the overall objective of the site. If you have a news site or blog you would want more traffic to your site, if you are an e-commerce site, you would want more conversions...
Conversion rate. If you have a good CR then you can focus on directing more relevant traffic. Its much easier building traffic that it is trying to build a site that converts that good. Gavin
This depends on website theme. for example..........News or blog or adsense oriented site then you will prefer traffic on the site where as product site should be conversion oriented.............
I like conversion rates! One of my sites has about ~30 visits a day and makes about $500-800 a month. In itself, traffic is a cost. It uses up resources. It costs more money to upgrade servers, but it doesn't take a lot of traffic to make good money. Then again, if the site had 3,000 visitors a day, you could probably use that to build up some more optimized landing pages and leverage the existing pagerank into the new pages.
Like Sadie said, it depends on the objective of the site. If you are selling something ( either in the form of a product manufactured by yourself, or driving traffic to a merchant's landing page), you'd obviously prefer the conversions.
I also Choose The Conversion Rate. I think The Conversion rate are depends the Traffic and The Websites themes.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, so I go with conversion rate. Traffic is useless unless it converts.
Defenitely the one with conversion rates. At the end of the day what counts is how much you make, not how many traffic you get. /Leo
