I started a gaming blog and would like some tips getting some traffic, I've been posting some links here and there to forums relating to my topics and I have gotten some readers but I would like to get more than just 100~ visits a day from direct link. Would love to hear some suggestions. The site is in my signature, the content is of quality and I have a couple writers who try to pump out new things each day.

Music legend, in all honesty, Digg won't help him unless he's got a super awesome article, pic, video, etc...

Better to participate in forums which are related to gaming, entertainment niche. Post signatures there.

Now try to concentrate on social networking websites. Find out youngsters, in between 10 to 18 age, and send them friend request. Now try to get your gaming website URL to them and you will surely find huge traffic.

Since it is gaming and wow related, I would spend some effort trying to get it picked up by Slashdot. It may bring your site down, but that crowd is pretty much your market. I have slowly been building up traffic for my blog. I have just been doing it old school, post once or twice a day on my blog and spend time on other blogs. Most times if it is a blog with a large following, and I post a comment with some thought to it, I always get one visitor, average around 4. So I hit 5-10 a day doing that. I am not spamming them though; I am actually participating in the discussion. If you want to get noticed by the blogger, comment that you are going to copy his post on your blog. Most times they will visit your blog to see how the content is.
Without spending allot of money, I have not hit the jackpot yet though. I do hear allot of stores that Slashdot will bring yoru site down if it gets picked up there. LOL
