I've got a bit of a rush on a new site today, it's already done a massive amount of traffic thanks to 3 or 4 big links (http://groundads.com btw). At the rate it's going it could be two or three times my normal daily traffic across *all* my websites. Should I let AdSense know or will they be able to track where the traffic's coming from and see it's all organic links?
Google knows about all your websites as soon as the javascript is excecuted and they tell you that in their FAQ. It would be just an extra waste of email for you to send and google to read.
I wouldn't bother, traffic spikes happen all the time for many reasons, advertising/offline marketing/competitions/popular forum postings/email marketing etc etc, I'm sure Google understands this.
Thanks fella's, I sent one anyway for peace of mind. I' know they can track it, but this is my first biggy, and I don't want to blow it all first go. I'm a bit jumpy as my Adsense stats haven't updated for a couple of hours now.
No worries, I understand where you coming from. If it's any consolation my adsense has been slow today also
I don't think it would have been a huge issue anyway - Google would be much more interested in huge spikes in CTR than they are in increases in traffic. Websites grow in traffic all the time so I don't think it would sound too many alarm bells just because your site is getting more visitors - though that said your increase is quite significant, and it might have been worthwhile sending the email.
I like it when it jams like this cause I usually make more money... and I work more cause I spend less time looking at that... lol
