When I check the traffic sources of my site only 6 visitors came from search engines. However, when I check the Top Traffic Sources list there are 25 direct visitors, 12 from google.com (referral), 6 from google.it (referral), 4 from google.ca (referral), etc. I wonder what means "referral" in the brackets? How do these visitors from search engines came to my site? Why it says that I had only 6 visitors from search engines, when actually I had 12 from google.com, 6 from google.it, 4 from google.ca. If you click on "View Full Report" under Top Traffic sources, you might see the 6 visits that came from organic search engine results. The visits could be from any of the search engines like yahoo / organic, ask / organic, bing / organic, google / organic etc. The referral visits are counted as 'Referring sites' traffic, not search engines traffic
Then again, it could be websites with integrated Google Adsense for Search or the Google Search Box. That way, the visit comes from a referring website but went through Google to get to your website.
Google referral traffic is: - Trafic from iGoogle. It might be someone using your RSS in the iGoogle interface - Traffic from Google image search. It seems wrong, but the image searches are not registred as search engine with the keyword used. So sites with lots of pictures with good filenames will see lots of visits with Google as referral.
Yes, it can be from Goggle image search, as I have many images on this site with proper titles and alt texts and the images appear on Google search.
Happy to help Andrej To track the image searches, you can use the _addOrganic() method. Use this string: _addOrganic("www.google.com", "imgrefurl", true)
Google referrals could mean traffic from a variety of different sources like Google Groups and some static pages related to Google sites. These do not appear either in Google organic or CPC.
This guy got it absolutely right. When it says your website is being referred to by Google and doesn't show any keywords chances are that it's the image search engine.
How does search engine traffic compare to traffic as a whole to your site? The graph shows overall trends while the table lists the search engines driving the trends. in Your site.
Some sites provide a search bar to do search for any information, most of the times that search is powered by Google Search. So the visits coming to our sites via the search result will be considered as referral visits from Google.
hi, If the cause of this issue was google images not transferring the referring keyword data (or it not being parsed correctly) wouldn't it show up as "images.google.com / referral" not "google.com / referral"?
