It seems to me that the second one is more valuable reason. Traffic is important in site promotion and money making. But to generate traffic from directory submission is not that wise decision. directories help to increase the link popularity of sites by giving a backlink to that site. It is not likely that people will go to a directory to find detail info. Most of the traffic of a site will be coming from search engines. People do directory submission mostly because they want to get indexed by search engines as soon as possible and they want to win more backlinks so that their PR will increse and their position in SERPs will also go up.
You're not going to get alot of traffic from directories. People submit to these to get permenant backlinks.
It still looks like a landslide for Option B, however, is this how the majority of SME's view this topic? I can't help but think that where I am asking the question is bound to give me B as a response. I am going to produce a poll and get a wider variety of SME's to answer it. If anyone is interested in the results, please let me know through PM or the contact form of our website and ill get back to you once complete. Thanks
a) to get more traffic from the business directory b) to get a backlink and help your site in Googles listings (c) to build a business network, of course.... more friends, more community, more market..
Could I ask everyone to vote via my poll please. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1771645
