Hey all- How about a Traffic marketing challenge to see who can drive the most traffic to a new site yet to be created (created solely for the competition and given away to the winner of the contest). Anyone with some time spent here on DP knows that traffic is the key to success online, so why not see what people here can do to get a new site to do in a short period of time.. Im open to suggestions about site subject, but think we should go social/web 2.0 in subject, content. Heres what Im thinking: 14 days after the start of this contest, which will start on Wednesday, August 15th, we will see who can drive the most total traffic from real visitors. Referrers will be viewed, and bots or traffic farms will not be counted. The person who is deemed the king of driving relevant, real traffic/uniques will win the site and domain ( .com) and Ill toss in $500 for the winner to use as they desire (paid via paypal only). Here's how I think we can monitor who sends what traffic etc: Each participant will have their own domain to identify their traffic/efforts, such as yahoo.com/james.html etc..and each participant page will redirect to the home page so in the end, the home page will have benefited from the traffic. So, if interested, post in this thread "im in" and I will pm you with your site url at the start of the contest. I will also keep the stats public, so anyone who wants to view the stats can do so at any time.. Also if anyone has any suggestions for the site topic, pls pm me. We will build a simple site (possible a wordpress site with some content etc etc) on Tuesday, so any suggestions will be appreciated. ps- I realize someone with a monster site could come in to this and simply drive some traffic and do quite well, but I also know there are other means to do just the same, and it should be a rather equal playing field. pss- no ppc will be allowed.
wow...I thought someone would be interested....either we have a bunch of newbies in this thread, or this doesnt interest anyone... I will leave this open until tonite at 8pm PST and if we dont get a decent response I will cancel the contest...
