Well if your traffic came from stumbleupon, then you not need to wonder why..

Yes, I have heard stumbleupon traffic really sucks. People just pass through, and keep clicking the "stumble" button. Search engine traffic is the best. Concentrate on SEO (spend some time in the SEO section here).

Cheers, I think I will as it seems I have been targetting the wrong sort of traffic. What is your opinion of zimbio and digg ? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, its appreciated as it gets frustrating when you get no comeback for your efforts.

All social traffic sucks. Good for indexing, but that's it.

If you are getting referrals from Google, it may be just image searches. If that's the case, they suck to as the people will hardly ever see your actual page as they will just click the link in results to see the pic.

    Good luck.

^^ What everyone up there said is all very true!

Traffic from Stumbleupon, Digg or any other social bookmarking site is terrible for clicking adverts. And image search from Google is also bad.

Do yourself a favour and build the right type of traffic - organic. This means months of hard work, constantly updating your website and targeting keywords.
There is no quick solution for this.

    Hi,
No you don't waste time, just get more traffic from all kind of sources and instead 400/visits day get 4000

Based on my own experience, I find the large rectangle format to be the most effective in terms of CTR. Also, I usually place the ad on prime space (i.e. near the top). Hope this helps!

Besides, blog type sites (or sites that look like blogs) are not doing very well with adsense. The link block, to my opinion, is a total waste and it just dilutes your stats. Also the top 468px block is unclickable (invisible, I mean).

Where you have this adsense block of 468px below your first article, change the link colour to the green (like you have Fixed Odds, Archives, Categories) - this ad block will be your little helper (earner, I mean). And, yeah - replace the link block with an ad block, or have an affiliate ad there. I bet you have had no clicks on that link block whatsoever!

I would personally replace that link block with a buzz picture where the action moves to the right side (just an example, a rally car dashing towards the right side of the picture) to drive attention to your ugly 200x200 ad block.
Why ugly? Because people don't click ads where link colour is blue. Well, they just don't, especially, when your site's background is not all white. So, yeah, again this green will be much better. These tips will increase your CTR.

And stop messing about the Stumble. Better exchange some links with other sporty blogs/sites.

    I do strongly believe so..

See there are reasons for them not clicking. They are already aware of adsense.:D

Thanks for all the replies, one thing though Tankard my sports tip site which is the only one designed on Wordpress is the one that gets more traffic but hardly a single click, that is what is baffling me because I think the ads on it are laid out ok.

But I really appreciate you all taking time to give me advice which I will take, many thanks to you all.

"using stumbleupon plus other sites "

Such traffic is like automated traffic. You will not earn much from such traffic. Try to get traffic from search engines, that will surely increase CTR
