Hello, Since 1.5 year we were doing link development and Seo for our client industrial > packaging site. During these period the traffic for the site increased from 200 (in 2008) - 1300 ( March 2010 )per month. The SEO contract for that site is now over and we are not working anymore. But after stopping the work we have noticed that the site's traffic has increased. Will anyone clear my doubt, why there is rise in traffic even after the link building work is stopped ? Thanks in advance.
It's possible that search engines start recognizing your links after a month or two. This happens specially with directory submission where there review process itself can take a couple of weeks.
Yea, I have seen links not show up for 7-8 months after they were created. Traffic may be picking up now, but in a few months it will probably start to decrease again. Sick
Takes a while for all the links to be counted, setup Google alert on your website and you will see some of the links you built are not indexed until even a year or more later.
learning_seo, there are so many different things that may happen and influence your positions and traffic meanwhile - you added more and better content - your site gets old and trusted in the Google eye - you old links got aged and started to qualify by Google - some trusted website sets some free link to your website - google changed his algorithm - and dozens more So, there is no magic and from your observation you cannot judge on usefulness of link building in general
Getting links through SEO is often frustrating. I've done the same thing with sites that I've done tons of work to get backlinks to with no results. After giving up and looking at the stats several months to years later, I was astonished that all the work I did was actually paying off. Too bad I let the domains expire. Now that I know, I'm not giving up for anything.
SEO is frustrating but it's worth it in the long run. I have links that have stuck for more than three years.
it takes time to rank a site using SEO. how long it will take depends on how competitive the niche is and what is being done to promote the site. it is possible that the site ranked higher for which its getting the increased traffic now. or the client might have signed up with some other SEO company/consultant who is doing a good job on increasing the traffic. or the client bought some traffic packages. really hard to say but i would like to think that your seo work finally started to show results.
Yes, it takes times. Same thing happened to me. I have been doing SEO for my website for over 3 months and did not get any results. I stopped for 2 months and ranking went up. Funny and hard to understand. But it is true that it takes time.
ive experienced this - my thoughts were - as if when your constantly link building, the datacenters put you in a new link list... so they're finding new links all the time, then when you stop, its as if the datacenters say - ok heres the what i think what do you think? so my thoughts are - when you stop the power kicks in - but if your always manipulating the links - it puts you in a hold queue because its busy looking at your new links... might sound odd - but yes - build links - then stop then build some more...
You need to check exactly which links and where you submitted them Also, sometimes it takes time for Google to update your value
After reading this thread, I think I need to try out the idea of getting links for a few months, stop for a few months, and start to get links again. Maybe the process of continuously getting incoming links make it difficult for the search engines to rank the website correctly.
It is true that there is a lag until links make their way through the system. It is also possible that the site reached an age where the search engine's trust it. I also noticed an increase in traffic /rankings on some of my sites. It too came when I stopped aggressively building links. I stopped worrying about building links and my rankings went way up. In my case, it helped that I was getting a lot of natural links coming in. Google is extremely advanced. I believe you have to keep an eye on your link profile. I just wrote an article on the top 15 signs that your links are not natural.
SEO is long-term progress, that's mean if you stop to work, the result of the last of your job will gain more traffic ... ! It can be
