Hi there, I just wanted to get some feedback on a tool that I've been working on to see if it's of any use to anyone else but me (!) and if it's worth putting more time and effort into it. Basically I'm a statsoholic - spending way too much time checking the various stats from all of my sites. Quite often, when there's been a dip in traffic, I've always wondered if it was a Google dance or just a public holiday somewhere that I didn't know about. So I put together a 'barometer' of sorts to monitor all the public holidays and other events (school holidays, sporting events etc) that may have an impact on website traffic. The tool can be found here. It turned out to be a lot more work than I anticipated, and there's still a lot more to be done before I'm completely happy with it, but I just wanted to know if it might be of use for anyone else out there? It basically takes into account the events that happen in the top 60 countries measured by Internet usage, so it's not intended to be a database of public holidays around the world. For example, I'm sure if the good people of Fiji (Bula!) had a public holiday there wouldn't be much interruption to normal Internet traffic. However when India, China or the USA have a day off, then it's a different story. Anyway, I'd appreciate your feedback. Phlegm...
Hey! I just arrived here after checking out norrweb because of a mention at WMW. It was great! Much better than the moaning and groaning thread about traffic down from 'G' you get everyday at WMW. People have to remember that the web gets what's left over after everything else in life happens. I already sent the link to some people who sweat their days watching traffic and conversions. If you're going to give up on the thing, shoot it over here BTW, look in your contact box over at your site, I sent you a feedback note. Good Luck!
Thanks for the feedback Plumsauce, I appreciate it. I guess if it's at least useful to one or two other folk then it's worth carrying on with. I did get your message btw, so I'll have a look at the site a little later on Again, thanks. Phlegm...
BTW, one of the people I sent the link to mentioned on the phone today that he thought it was both cool and useful. Thought you'd like to know.
