I've had my site live for a few weeks now, by using the seo plugin from seo quake in firefox it says my site has 86 links in yahoo, 1 page indexed and i havent had a single bit of traffic from them. In the past i used to have problems with google traffic but this time around i only am getting it from google, msn has also only got 1 indexed page and showing no links which in turn is giving no traffic. Do i just have to wait or is there anything that can speed this process up? Thanks
Possibly, but you should have done the necessary keyword research, i.e. you should be aware of the amount of times people are searching for the keyword term you decided to optimise your site under. You should also check yahoos search engine to see where your position is, you could be listed on the 10th page and that could be one of the reasons you’re not receiving much traffic from yahoo, as a general rule you should always multiply yahoos estimated traffic by at least 2 to gauge how much traffic you’ll draw from Google. That fact that you’re receiving traffic from Google and not yahoo could simply be because Google has your site listed higher up on whatever search term you have your site under
I've never had any success trying to rank in Yahoo. I rank number #1 in google for some pretty good keywords, but Yahoo still sticks me way down in the SERPs for the exact same keywords. I think Yahoo is more concerned with age of domain than anything. All in all, I wouldn't even worry about Yahoo though - Google is the main SE you should be trying to rank in.
Yea in mine too i have 400 pages index in google and only 1 in yahoo and msn i dont know wats the problem of these search engines Play 2200 free online games www.beearcade.com
Having one page indexed won't get you much traffic at all. Yahoo has a much smaller market share compared to Google.
thats the thing though, they wont follow any more of my pages ill just wait and hope they will soon as one of my sites go a fair bit of traffic from msn in a similar niche.
I agree. Yahoo after a year since my forum launch does not yield any seo results for me. Only when you type in the domain name something happens. But i certainly hope this will change over time. Fabian
I get pretty good traffic from Yahoo on my automotive forums. Probably 1/3 of my search engine traffic comes from Yahoo while the rest being mostly from Google. If you're able to do so, I would recommend summiting a sitemap to both Yahoo and Google, it works wonders for getting your pages indexed. Having search engine friendly pages also helps too.
I guess you have to wait for a longer time, just keep post nice article and make yahoo index more pages of your site.
