I have seen many webmasters getting huge traffic from stumbleupon. But I wonder about this.

I have tried this many times and got only less traffic XX.

Any other secrets in it ?

Don't just use Stumble, use at least 15 different sites.

Yes there are several things one should do:

    -have a good profile

    -have a lot of friends

    -don't do stumble exchanges

-have an easy to read page (images/video is best)

-if it's funny you have more chances to have it succeed

    -etc etc

BUT the thing is... stumble traffic is really hard to convert

    Good luck

I've only gotten poor quality traffic from SU. They will only look at the landing page, then click on stumble to the next site.

In my experience it only hurt the quality of my account and I remember times when I got hundreds of stumbles for my pages and not one visitor.

    Go figure

Don't use only Stumble try squidoo and hubpages as well. You will get good traffic from squidoo.

traffic from sites like stumbleupon are dependent upon the quality of content in your website. Unlike what many have written here, I know sites where significant amount of traffic has been generated only through stumbleupon.

Stumbleupon traffic is sporadic. It depends on whether people are searching for your keywords, or what rank you have. I list as much as I can on there. They have a limit of I think 10 listings per site. I get much more traffic from Stumbleupon than I do from Digg...about 4 times as much.

People say stumblers don't click or convert, but that's not my experience. My adsense revenue tripled when I was getting all the Stumble traffic. I don't know about affiliate traffic, but it seems to me that if they are searching for keywords, you have a better chance of converting than if they are just stumbling.

It depends on the niche as well. Cool geek stuff and humor stuff gets a lot of attention. The traffic from StumbleUpon is quite useless (but it will improve your Alexa rank if that's important for you). Don't expect sales, clicks on ads, or returning visitors.

I've received 5,651 visitors from stumbleupon alone TODAY the traffic however is pretty useless. Its almost a waste of my bandwidth.
