Traffic from Stumbleupon.com

Just checking logs for one of my sites and I'm getting a steady stream of traffic from www.stumbleupon.com does anybody else recieve much traffic from there and any ideas on improving it.

 

One of my sites according to their page about it, receives "tons of stumbleupon activity" for a couple of months now but I only get 10-20 unques per day from there, I don't think there is actually a way to increase that.

 

I normally get 20-30 visitors a day from there but there was one day last week when they sent me 473 visitors and I want more like that .

 

I guess it depends on the niche, since people using the stumbleupon toolbar can choose the category of the sites that they want to "stumble".

 

I had somebody 'stumble' upon one of my sites, and I was getting serious traffic left and right. Not sure if the traffic converts to revenue though...

 

I have one page that gets lots of stumbleupon referrals. SU traffic is pretty hit and miss, getting traffic to one page doesn't mean the rest of the site will get any more exposure.

I think SU users are a little more likely to blog about your page, but that's the only real benefit of getting the traffic. They tend not to come to spend money, so although you may get plenty of visitors they're not usually high conversion.

 

I get about 20+ uniques daily from SU. I also stumble alot of sites as I use the toolbar and blog.

 

I don't understand why some of you Flash games webmasters haven't taken advantage of this yet. The traffic you get from social-bookmarking sites and things like SU is more valuable than the traffic you get from link exchanges.

 

Hi, I'm new to this site - I have used stumble upon just for my own interests, but never thought of trying to get people from there to my sight (http://www.saba.ie), how do you get your site listed there? I'm a jewellery designer based in Ireland by the way and I specialise in animal and cat jewellery and other whimsical designs.

 

Just give it the thumbs up when you're on that URL. That's all there is to it.

I've used SU for over a year but never really thought it had potential as a promotional tool until recently.

 

Stumble Upon traffic is not bad sometimes. Although I have found that it levels off pretty quickly if you ever get a big spike in visitors from them. I have found that if you get Dugg the traffic will last longer.

 

Stumpleupon sends me a bunch of hits (~1,000 a month) for the viral video I did. And, they've been sending traffic to me for years. Don't know how my link got up there (I've never really checked out the site before, but it sounds cool). I really should thank them.

I've noticed this aswell. A steady influx of hits coming in..

 

How to increase stumble traffic:
- Have content so awesome people will give it a thumbs up
- Get the toolbar and give your own sites the thumbs up

StumbleUpon.com is a great site. If you want to increase your referals from them participate in the community. Your spikes in traffic might be because you are getting picked up here http://buzz.stumbleupon.com/
