Are you all seeing a large increase in traffic from search engines? Traffic from Google is now over four times as much as any other source. This is normal for other sites, but a new development for me for web directories. Even a search phrase I myself target for another site (Compress WMV), I am seeing traffic to alivedirectory.com for it and a lot of other searches. The page I target for it is #4 and alivedirectory is #10, even though I have not done any work at all for that particular page of alivedirectory. On the other hand, I have done considerable work for the page on blazemp.com to have #4. Even searches for other people's directory name, alivedirectory.com is coming up first, such as search buster directory. I am wondering if this is a common development for others too? I imagine the directories that have thousands of listings could really be seeing a lot of traffic if so.
I don't have thousands Chris, but I can say that the traffic on both squidlink.com and piggydir.com has more than doubled since last 10-12 days. (same happened with 2 of my other sites) I haven't really checked it before you created this thread, in any case I realized it after. I wonder why or if this as anything to do with del.icio.us... (both sites were added to del.icio.us too...)
Believe it or not, My site Linkspub is getting about 1/5 - 1/3 of its traffic from google lately. It's also showing up as Top 5 for alot of hot keywords including voting countries without any quotes, just as it is. I can't complain
G brings in 73.8% of the search engine traffic for us this month less than 3 days against 70.1% for November in total but this is only for search engine traffic will need to look further for comparisons to overall traffic
Maybe my quesiton matches this thread... I started my directory 1 week ago: www . eliastab . com It's in a PR5 domain. In 1 week, its Alexa rank (today's rank) is 31,504 .. It's almost the same as my free hosting service, that I've been running for 3 years.. How come can it happen ?!

I love those SERP! And seriously i noticed nothing new about google traffic! Perhaps alivedirectory.com is getting old With all the links you bought it think it's normal, time is always the answer/solution with google.
My traffic and indexed pages has quaddrupled in last 10 days from google Really good to see such a jump in traffic.
Since my directory is related to crafts and Christmas is just around the corner I just figured the increased traffic was related. Maybe it's some sort of trend? Keeps fingers crossed it is and the traffic for Crafty Tips won't tank Dec 26th.
Search Engine traffic to directories is a great resource to find new niches. My biggest keyword is "Sexy Girls" and I am on page 12 of the results
submiturlhere gets a lot of listing related keyword traffic. someone searching for fishing equipment lands in that particular page in submiturlhere and many many SE traffic are like this.
My sites don't get much traffic from search engine. My traffic mostly came from directories and articles. Sometimes from my blog.
Alexa stats for directories are skewed, because directory visitors are more likely to be webmasters with the toolbar installed. However, that's still unusual for a week-old directory. What was on the domain before? That was probably what was affecting the rank. It's back to a more typical ranking now:
Not on mine. I only use firefox and the only toolbar on my browser is google toolbar. And I even filter out the visits from me and the people that work with me in analytics.
my suggest-link.net get traffic also from G since my site is no.2 under suggest link keyword. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=suggest+link&btnG=Search
Actually I need to make a correction on my previous post. 1/5 - 1/3 is a high percentage. 15% - 20% is a realistic figure. But with around 120 visitors a day, that's alot of organic referals
