a quick question i want to ask. we have a website to market - www.domain.in the client is in UK and needs no traffic from india, and he registered this domain name as there was a good and premium name available in .in extension. we are finding that all the referals from google are only from google.co.in i know that its is due to the fact that google is giving the results to local people in india only. but will there be a difficulty to get into google.com results and not just google.co.in ?? we don't want to spend lot of time on this .in domain and will instead tell the client to register a new domain with .com or .co.uk extension to have more benefits. Regards dhaliwal
If the domain is a non uk domain and it is hosted with a physical IP address otside of the UK then it is highly unlikely it will show in the UK results. I say highly unlikely, as it IS possible to get any domain to show in uk search, if you can get enough uk only directories pointing to it. This is not a good long term solution though, and personally I would buy a uk or com name and host it on a UK physical address.
but any chances for a .in domain to be made popular on google.com main ?? the domain is hosted in servers placed in USA
Yes there is no reason why a second level domain does not appear in the google.com index. The BIG difference is though that you are competing on a global playing field which is more competitive and has many more players.
Actually, this might be a good place to ask.. Does Google recognise the Country Meta Tag? I've recently added <meta name="country" content="Ireland"> to my .com on the off chance that any of the search engines might take it into consideration but not going to be too upset if it doesn't make a difference..
Yeah, as I said I added it on the off chance that it makes a difference to some search engines somewhere really...
.in and .co.in extension domains show fine on google i am from the uk and i can view them. Same goes with MSN just put in premium .co.in domain names and you will see my listed.co.in site appear.
Obvious, as if you put india in google.com search, you will definitely have .in domains, but still, most likely they are far behind in the serps if you are not in india. change your domain it is very difficult to rank well in uk with .in
mhandi hehe that is one of 190 domain i have I have many .co.uk names listed on the front page under there keywords. I am now investing heavily into the indian market, i have accounts with the indiantimes and other indian search engines and enjoy doing business with the indian community.
