Google +1 does work for SEO. I haven't seen that it really increases visitors though. But, I still think it is worth it to set up an account and maintain and post to it at least once a week. Any value is good value in these tough SEO days.

i'm starting to get a nice amount of traffic from google+ by making a fan page and marketing it so a lot of people have joined it. I then post links to my article on the page and presto!

Personally, i used G+ just as support to Facebook and Twitter. Don't have time to maximize all of it, so focusing on the biggest is better.
