Has anyone tried method of getting traffic with Craigslist? I heard you can get indexed on MSN in 48 hours with this,

In terms of indexing, I guess it's a good thing. Traffic-wise, I've never done too well. :(

Ive never used Craigslist. Ive heard a lot of good things about it but I really dont know what section to submit my ad. I think the layout could be a lot clearer

I agree the layout could use an update, though the massive user base seems to say they don't mind it if they keep coming back.

How can you truly leverage craigslist? It's quite strict last I checked

I posted an open position for a job on it and I got a few hits from them. And some good applications too :D

Some sections you can add your link to such as services (ie small business services, lessons etc). When you can't add your link you can ask them to email you for more information. I don't think it's good to spam them as it's a nice community plus people will flag you anyway and they delete the post.

I tried it, and got very little traffic. Waste of time, imo.

Awesome site if it is used for the correct reasons. Do not spam craigslist with ads promoting your sites. Don't ruin it for the people who actually use it.

I sold a ton of music equipment on it. We also have place ads for a new lead singer for our band. Have gotten a lot of responses.

I think it is a better resource for tangible items to the local market than mass marketing.

Craigslist is a good traffic source if you know where to submit.

Great response to a car I am selling. Posted my website last night, but we'll see how it goes.

One thing I learned was don't delete your ad a week later in case you want to re-run it. I found it on first page of google after I deleted the ad and no one could get the info when the clicked.YIKES.

Craigslist is great for converting adult traffic (mostly dating/swinger sites). Back a few years ago I was converting 1:20, but now that there are a lot more affiliates in the pool I am converting around 1:80.

As others were saying... the traffic is slow. My ads on average get around 50 - 200 clicks per day depending on the city the ad was posted in.

I would also high suggest making a small app that auto submits classified ads. I have made a few over the years as the code has changed, and getting around Craigslist's captcha is cake.

IF you know how to use it and where to use it, you will do great. I do for my websites

I am not sure who gave you red, but your 2 post in this thread seem to contradict each other.

    my 2 cents

I used craigslist for my seasonal promotion..I was promoting a gift ideas website..looking back, that doesn't work. Now it would have worked if I had actually been selling anything instead of telling them what to buy..I'll definitely use it again for actual selling something.

As far as indexing goes, there are too many things that can get you indexed on msn real quick. MSN should be the least of your worries..(normally)

I've used in it in the past, its been OK. It's better for selling good then promoting web sites. It also depends on the type of web site you're promoting.
