Traffic exchanges

Does anyone have experience of (preferably more than one) traffic exchange site? I've just signed up to wolfsurfer and will be giving them a try for two of my sites, having had fairly decent results from the blog traffic exchanges, but obviously quality and effectiveness will vary between different sites... anyone have any suggestions (or affiliate links ;)) ?

I've had no results with traffic exchanges when I tried them (When I was first starting out)

I will be interested to hear if anyone has actually had ANY level of success as in my experience they have always been a waste of time.

Can you clarify? You mean you surfed heaps but got no hits at all? Or just no conversions/ad clicks?

Plenty of hits but no conversions or even anyone clicking a link anywhere in the page.

Basically my page was displayed for however long and that was it.

I've trialled BlogExplosion and mowed my way through 100 odd blogs. Some of actually were an interesting read but I doubt I clicked through on more than 1 of them. So I expect the same to happen to me and it did. Got the traffic but no AdSense clicks or anything else tangible.

The whole idea is flawed IMO. It's like forcing people to come to your site. I doubt it will ever work like that. They'll come naturally if they want.

Yes it boosts traffic but what's that worth?

Blogs may be a different case as its more targeted but when it comes to General Sites, there are so many "Work from Home", etc. sites that the vast majority of people don't even bother looking at the sites.

    Hi.

Traffic exchanges all seem to be occupied by people wanting to make money by recruiting you into whatever they're up to. So unless you're rotating something that is eye catching, unique, that can be digested by the viewer in about 10 seconds and would appeal to the audience of the exchanges then you're probably wasting your time.

For example - 30 minutes surfing for credits could be used instead writing 30 minutes worth of copy for your site. Do that once a day and you'll soon have a site full.

I have had a certain success in the traffic exchanges, but only for recruiting purposes and the like. And only then when surfing about 8 at once. I still do it on occasion when I know I should be using my time better :)

PM me your signup link for Wolfsurfer, I'll probably join up under you :)

    Cheers

    Chris

"Writing 30 minutes of copy" - sorry, I'm tired, but what do you mean? :)

This is my referral link: http://www.wolfsurfer.com/joinup.php?Refer=d21422

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I really appreciate it. I think driving traffic is my weakest area at the moment, I'm really fumbling in the dark somewhat...

He means writing content for your site. You could substitute that with link building, PR (the other one - Not Googles), etc.

Ahh right. Yeah I always do that :) And link building too. Just though exchanges could be a source of traffic too. :)

    Thanks again!

I would sign up and take a look at the sites that are already in there. If it seems your site may appeal to the people that are creating those sites, it may be worth a shot.

Otherwise I wouldn't waste my time (None of my sites would ever appeal to your average Traffic Exchange user)

Yep. That's what I meant. Sorry, I write very badly sometimes. Actually I write badly nearly all the time :) English is only my native language after all...

But yes. I mean that rather than idly surfing exchanges you can spend your time much more productively. In fact, going out for a 30 minute stroll round the park would probably clear your head and benefit your sites a lot more :)

    Cheers

Hahaha, yeah, after surfing for about 30 mins, I see what you mean. I've never seen so much garbage in my life.

Thanks for trying to warn me ;) Back to submitting to directories... ;)
