    Hi, everyone,

For average content site (not shopping related), did anyone experience that traffic went down (50%) the past few days due to Thanksgiving week in the US?

    thanks for any insight.

I would suspect more people are traveling, which means that they are out of the house and away from the computer.

The traffic at some of my sites went down but went up at some of my other sites.

It really depends on the type of website you have. Some of our geo websites including real estate and others are always down in traffic this time of the year. BUT... our websites that have products are usually up.

Travelling, family and turkeys might be the reason :)

To answer your original question, yes, my traffic was down a lot over the long Thanksgiving weekend. Based on the past five years' history, I anticipate another substantial drop in traffic as Christmas draws near, then a big increase after New Years.

P.S. Mine is an informational site, not a retail one.

Perhaps major internet user is offline during that day.
That is possible reason, i think.

I think now one or possibly many people are too busy during that time preparing for thanks giving.
