Traffic down on my site - rankings are same.

Hi, we have a pretty big site with thousands of unique content pages. Our site gets updated daily and we dont sell links. PR4 - used to get 4000 visitors a day... all of a sudden started Wednesday night - traffic dropped... we still rank the same in google for the 20 to 30 keywords that I checked... what could be causing this problem ? is someone stealing our traffic ?

everything seems normal except the fact that traffic is down to about 400 visits a day...

    Please help!

    thanks

The amin source of your traffic was Google?

If yes, then check the most used keywords (use your webstats to find it) and check if with those keywords your still showing in same rankings.
Also check if your site is not flagged in anyway as red flagged sitein http://www.siteadvisor.com

Which keywords was bringing you the traffic? Check the status of those keywords in SERP.

It may be that your keywords are just not being used that much anymnore. Ive seen similar things with some of my websites. One month its a hot topic and then it fades only to return to baseline a month later.

    Just wait it out

I have had lots of the same BS from der Google. In late 06, my site with all of its 500+ pages disappeared overnight. None were found using the "site:domain.com" query.

Then, a month later, it all went back to normal.

Now, the 600+ pages I have on it now seem to be declining daily using the same query. Every day it indexes less and less of my site. ANd I also notice there are some pages that havent existed for over three yrs on my site being included. So... maybe it is something as benign as them updating their data centers, or something complex like being dropped for certain keyword usage or backlinks.

What choice do we have other than to wait it out anyways?

I think the downtrend in your traffic is temporary one. If you are sure that you rank well for all of your targeted keywords, then your traffic will resume to normal position. Check the traffic for a course, say one week and analyze the source to come to a conclusion.

same exact thing has happened to me... still have 1500 pages unique content indexed using site:domain.com search and per webmaster tools and still PR 5 at multiple datacenters but google search traffic is down 80% since the 5th. and google just added sitelinks for the site, so it should be on the upswing as far as serps and traffic goes.

this sucks but i feel a bit better knowing other people have the same issue and it's not something i did. hopefully.

YOu should check in Google analytics that Is traffic from search engine is same or not?
If it's not same then ther may be any reason like you have lost your ranking in some data centers, or your targeted keywords are not that much effective.

ut if your traffic from search engine is same, then you have lost your traffic from your referring website. Target your referring websites again you will get your traffic again.
