Hi everyone, Since March 6, 2013 I've noticed a significant decrease in traffic and impressions for a lot of keywords. Still the position of keywords remain practically the same. What could be the causes for this, did you have similar issues? It's somehow strange that people are not searching for with the same intensity.. Didn't receive any notifications in GWT and didn't apply any black SEO techniques for my site. The only issues is that we have duplicate title descriptions for a lot of pages (since we have pagination). Now we're implementing pagination with rel="next" and rel="prev". Any suggestions?
Can be many things not even things which you control. First of all what is a significant decrease? Are we talking about a decrease of 25 percent or more? Also keep in mind that keywords are trending some are sometimes hot others are hot all the day. This does not mean you should not do what you are doing, optimizing your website. Such things, maintenance and optimizing are always good for even better rankings and/or conversions.
Since your serp ranking is stil the same so its nothing related to your meta tags. But you sure make it unique for your meta tag to help in your SEO . It might likely cause of the trend where some keywords do actually have the trend where people not always search on it . You can try google adwords keywords tool to search out is the search of the keywords lower on that month.
I'm talking about 30-40% decrease in both impressions and clicks, first 50 keywords that brought a good amount of traffic didn't seem to drop in search volume (according to Google trends), it sounds more like an adjustment from Google.
How can it be a adjustment of Google if your SERP on your keywords did not change? Seem a bit odd no? It is just a week ago so I don't think Google Trends will show you much differences, also dont expect 100 percent accuracy of it. Just wait for some more do the usual checks and keep optimizing. You can have the #1 position in the SERP but if your meta description is bad people might not even bother to click on it.
I meant an update of algorithm and I think it's odd that impressions dropped down, but I agree with you that it's a short period of time to make references to Google Trends. Anyway, noticed a little increase in both impressions and clicks, still not at the previous level.
