Still didn't understand how it happened. Let me explain the sequence ..

    * I went for a vacation for a week and didn't posted anything to my blog
    * When returned Google Traffic was reached to 0. No traffic came from Google for days
    * Did some tweaking here and there but nothing helped.
    * Finally I removed all my sitemap links and left it as it for 3-4 days

    * nothing helped .. so again I added the above and It was like a miracle. My traffic increased around 35-40%. This month I earned around 20$ which was all I got in past 3 months.

you may even check alexa details

Can somebody explain why it happened?

There might be some other reason, as the reason you have mentioned above doesn't have significant validity..:)

Maybe the tewaking that you did on your site or when Google updates after Google-dance, because the sitemap has nothing to do with this i guess.
