Traffic at #1, #2, #3?

For one of my sites, I was listed #1 at MSN for about 3 weeks, then early yesterday my site dropped to #3!

The site had about the same amount of hits as normal, but my CTR was up about 7%

Do the people who click #3 click more ads? Am I just crazy?

I have had similar things happen, including many #1 spots that use to be good a year ago on google which seem to be almost worthless right now????

    go figure, cause I can't figure it out??? ? ? ??? ? ? ?? ?? ?? ?

Its wierd. Because personally I think that the people who choose the first result are the people that just click anything in their path. And the people who choose result #3 are more picky.

I noticed after a drop to 3 an increase in traffic - albeit a slight one. I thought it was strange.

It's all in the human-computer interaction! If the result descriptions/anchors doesn't sway their choice, it'll be a combination of whatever's the closest to their mouse cursor (more so on a laptop, speaking from experience - bloody touchpads) and where their eyes are looking.

Although looking at a Google SERP in 1024x768, #3 is below the halfway line... so maybe that's bollocks...

Only for MSN...now a day later, my clicks are down about 25%, and money is down about 50%!

    Not good after all...
