Yes, It depends on your traffic and SE position... If you have higher position there is possibility that you will generate higher traffic. To get high traffic do link building..... Sometimes even if you have high traffic your site does not appear on Google Search Results...
hhhmmm, i dont think so... if we're talking about google, the no. of quality backlinks counts the most to get higher position. it's just my opinion. =)
For instance somebody,will not say who clip the links though a search engine hundreds of time , then what else happened, the site turned to the top of the search engine, but fell quickly afterwards.

thanks! so, the number of traffic does not affect serp, right? my site could have thousands of traffic every day but still could end up in the last page of serp. Right?
