I have been exploring traditional rugs lately not just as decor pieces but as true works of art and I wanted to open a discussion on the craft behind them especially hand knotting. When you look closely at traditional rugs you start to notice that every pattern every color shift and every small detail is the result of careful manual work rather than machine production.

Hand knotting is a slow and highly skilled process where each knot is tied individually onto the loom. This means a single rug can take weeks or even months to complete depending on the complexity. What fascinates me most is how artisans use this technique almost like painters using a canvas. Instead of brush strokes they use knots to build intricate designs and tell visual stories that often reflect culture history and personal creativity.

I also find it interesting how no two hand knotted rugs are ever exactly the same. Even when following a traditional pattern there are always slight variations that give each piece its own identity. That uniqueness is something I feel gets lost in mass produced designs.

For those of you who work in textile arts or appreciate handmade crafts how do you view traditional rugs in the context of creative work Do you see them more as functional objects or as artistic expressions And if anyone here has experience with hand knotting I would love to hear about the process and challenges involved.

This is going to astound you, but you won't find many textile art workers on an internet marketing forum! Wild, right?!
