Just wanted to post this for newbies and the general public and share this with you guys. A lot of you guys think, if you buy banner ads, or text link ads you will get all the business. Same goes with tv ads, radio ads, bill boards. Its all dead. I will go into details: 1) Website Banner Ads - When was last time you clicked on a banner ad? I personally have them blocked with firefox plugin. 2) Text Link - same as above. 3) TV Ads - Most people are like prone to ads, people siting with their mobile phones and tablets while watching tv, meaning when the ad is on they are doing something most likely social with their tablets or mobile device. 4) Radio ads - No one has a pen and a paper to remember this, and people no longer lister to traditional radio, most listen music from their ipod/mobile device. 5) Bill boards - Like my favorite author says "people are not even looking at the road, not talking about billboards" unfortunately people text and drive, so your ad is gone. Email marketing also became hard, because people dont open emails anymore. I personally have 2 emails, the spam one and the private one. Whats most important right now is social marketing, word of mouth. When facebook users like your page, its spreads to their friends, when your site gets pinned on pintrest on someones profile their friends will see it as well. Its all about brand management and social marketing. So dont waste your time doing traditional marketing because it doesnt work.
its not just traditional marketing to share our product, but its how often you made an advertising about your product. more often trying to advertise statistically its rise probability to user saw our product... so no matter traditional or nontraditional marketing where ever its invite lot viewer the result can be seen later.
Organic Advertising (trademarked by me) is the future. Link in sig for more info. Don't like spamming.
Companies invest MILLIONS of dollars into billboard ads, tv ads, radio ads. They have a team of highliy paid social engineers who have access to data to measure the effectivity of their marketing strategies. If they are still there, they work.
I agree to some extent. This is a bit off-topic but still pertains: I was surprised that door-to-door sales, the most traditional of all marketing approaches of which I would never use, was portrayed in a modern TV show recently. I saw a rerun of a show where they were selling Christmas wrapping paper in the neighborhood. Althoug, maybe kids doing this is still traditional. Who knows?
Hello, This is probably a good thread to share an interesting experience. I went to a Pot Belly at the end of a work day. Ordered my sandwich and the kid (about 19 ish) asked me how my day was and what business I was in. I told him our firm was a Internet Marketing Agency....he had this puzzled look on his face....considering his age, I had to ask him what didn't he understand about that? He said, what is "Internet Marketing"? At this point I was truly puzzled about as much as he was puzzled. Why is this "kid" asking me to explain to him what "internet marketing" was about. Being patient, I told him that we differentiate "internet marketing" from the old traditional ways of marketing in TV, Radio and Print. His response was quite intriguing...he said...if...I had just said "marketing" to him...he would have just assumed it was Internet or Digital. I didn't have qualify marketing with the word "Internet" or "Traditional". As far as he was concerned the only way to reach him is in the digital world through his computer, tablet or phone. I'm guessing traditional marketing to him would be banner ads! So, this would certainly validate that old traditional marketing really is dead in terms of generating revenue. Rather it can be used for branding, but I'm guessing that real time sales is our future in which we are using iBeacon, NFC, and some form of real time conversations like Twitter.
Not necessarily , old marketing methods are not dead at all but its true they are old and outdated, BUT certainly NOT dead. These old forms of advertising just need to be a little re-invented. Advertising is ADVERTISING, whether it be door-to-door, organic traffic, paid traffic, magazine ads or whatever form of advertising you can think of. The purpose of advertising is to expose a product or service to a crowed of potential customers and in the end its certainly is up to the quality and price of the service or product that will make those potential customers convert. Sure its obvious that we are now in the digital age and that most of purchases made to supplement our needs are shifting towards online but are you telling me that I can't go door-to-door around my little town and make just as much if not more selling a certain service or product? I can definitely do that! Its all about delivery an how you talk to potential customers(when doing door-to-door advertising) Just keep in mind that advertising isn't the process of "making money" but only the process of "exposure" of certain products and services , and advertising can be done in all sorts of ways that that can work many of which can be done offline and some online. (sorry to ramble on i'm getting sleepy, i'll probably wake up in the morning and see this post and be all like wtf??? so many mistakes in regards to word choice
I believe that Social media has become very popular and effective medium of advertising today. Radio & Billboards have become history.
It's not fair to say a certain marketing medium is dead just by the amount of response it gets. what if the price went down for those same mediums? Then response can go down but your return on investment could still go up.
