I recently tested and found that traditional clickbank hoplinks ( http://affiliate.vendor.hop.clickbank.net) are tracked better than the ones that were encrypted with the HopLink Shield. If the vendor has many pages, I found that affiliate cookie is not just tracked properly but if the vendor has just a single sales page letter then encrypted hoplinks worked fine... Anyone ever noticed or checked this before????
I have not made any test yet, but I think the Shield HopLink should work just fine! At least that is what I am using. Hope it is not hurting me!
The encrypted link is random each time and you have no way to learn today whether your link was right or not (in case something is changed at the backend) Standard ones are the best. Its better to use your own redirection script than the encryption. Just my BS advice
Yes, I have the same thoughts as well... and agree with jacky8 With the traditional links, you can actually see your nickname clearly. It's also simpler to troubleshoot in case of any doubts or problems (like changing accounts or ensuring that the nickname is indeed yours).
Not sure about this - however what jacky says may have a point - as if something is a bit off best to stay with the standard hoplink. I havent tested this though. Chris
Yes, that's exactly correct.... The encrypted hoplink didn't track my affiliate id on multi page sales page, atleast not all the times. I have to say 70% it worked...but many a time i noticed affiliate=none....probably this is one reason why some products have low % refd rate (considering only the affiliates promoting)!!!
I have to say that I also prefer the traditional hoplinks. Those encrypted urls just look too much like scammers urls to me, and I'm sure that at least some potential buyers see them in that way too which causes them to not proceed with a purchase.
Both the traditional hoplinks and the new encrypted URL's can be cloaked using a small php script. There's too much worrying about cloaking links, however there's certain techniques that can highjack an affiliate link so it's always better to cloak them. Al.
