    Hey
I'm looking to buy some stock in a few companies and I'm wondering if there is anyway for me to do this online. Please post any links or comments and thank you in advance.

I use etrade which I am alright with not one way or the other it is ok. There are a few other big dogs such as Ameritrade, Scottrade, etc etc there are a few others but be careful buying with an unknown and I really wouldnt because there was a scam a few years back with websites like that and people would buy a lot of a stock and put money in and next thing they know after a few years there ready to cash out and find out they never even really owned the stock it was all set up and fake and nothing was ever purchased so be very careful, if you are investing over 10k I would check with a local stockbroker to see what they think

eTrade most likely wont have to file for bankruptcy unless everyone totally freaks out. Their shares did plummet though and they will post bigger losses for the 4th quarter than they originally thought....
Unless you plan starting with a portfolio worth $100,000 I wouldn't worry about it too much.
If you are though, try Ameritrade or Charles Schwab

Trading online is a very common way of trading stocks these days. There is no risk to it.

I think ameritrade is the fastest for cashout, scottrade is cheapest for anytime trades, and sharebuilder is good for set scheduled stock purchases.
