Trademark Terms through Natural Search Results (legal)?

Just curious would someone be liable if they was ranking trademark terms through Google. You know ranking their competitor keywords. I was just curious because it seems that a lot of people do it and nothing is ever said to them. I do know it's a no no to register trademark terms in the domain name of course, but what about these people ranking them in natural search results? By building links using competitor trademark terms?

As far as I know no. If you are ranking based on trademarks and not actually infringing on the trademarks on your actual site and in your products you should probably be fine.

And of course if you ever want sound legal advice be sure to talk to a lawyer with experience in the related areas.

From a legal point of view, perhaps this is not feasible, but this should be a marketing tool

from a legal stand point, I can not say....

google may see this as misleading/redirecting traffic...
this means, your traffic is expecting this, and they are getting that...

but I am not sure about their TOS either....

If you ask me, I would not want to do this...
I would rather stand on my own two feet, rather then
trying to ride on someone elses success, and
    try to stand on crunches....
