If you live in the US, you will be expecting it to cost somewhere around 400USD if i'm correct.

    you can file on www.uspto.gov

Does that matter whether US or Non-US? Is the fee same? I contacted an attorney and i was informed that it would cost $950 for international trademark registration. Is it worth paying that much?

I understand an effective way to protect ideas and intellectual property is to package the goods in an envelope and register mail it to yourself. I know of many writers and musicians that do this. It's not necessarily the right way, but apparently it hold some weight in court. Just don't open the package! Of course, if you're serious and have a budget, you should seek legal advice from a lawyer that specializes in this field.

You can file a trademark online, and there are other ways. Do your research first, and make sure that nobody in the same field has taken the name.

You cannot simply mail yourself your work and have it protected. There is no poor man's copyright and, likewise, there is no poor man's patent. Mailing your invention to yourself creates absolutely no exclusive rights.

I have more information about this on my website at:
