i have a trademark related question: if for example xdsvyz.com is a registered trademark is it required to post on the website that xdsvyz.com is a registered trademark? i'm asking this because i want to buy a domain for a host and there is a website that is owned by a company and i don't now if its trademarked or not thanks a lot, Tom
As I understand, it's not required to post that the name is trademarked, but most do. (For requirements, etc. see: http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/tac/doc/basic/register.htm) I'd recommend you do a trademark search at the US Trademark & Patent Office. Here's the homepage: http://www.uspto.gov/main/trademarks.htm and here's the search page: http://tess2.uspto.gov/ Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer. See the links above for complete information. best, Denise
No trademark holder (especially in the US) is required to post on their website they have a trademark, whether there is a registration at the USPTO or not. However, many post such anyway to give notice. IANALE, but I learned that from lawyers who do specialize in this matter.
