Trademark problem with similar name, similar site?

    Hello;

    I've been searching for a domain for a forum I'm creating. One domain that came up that I am looking at is forumdog .com I checked and there is a dog forum on dogforum.com and dogsforum.com

    dogforum.com and dogsforum.com go to different forums, that makes me suspect that the case for trademark infringment is not an easy once since these are dictionary words with no common secondary meaning.

    Am I likely to see a problem if I use the forumdog name? Since neither word on it's own would have trademark protection, am I free to use the words in a different combination? Could / would they be likely to claim this is a bad faith registration?

    Thanks,

    Jamie Dolan

    You can never be 100% sure that you won't have someone claim infringement, but I don't think you would have any problems with the two other descriptive domains you mentioned.
