    Hi
I will be attending my first trade show next week and would like to put together some form of competition to try and get some interaction with the attendees.

Does anyone have any "tried and tested" competition ideas? or just some ideas in general which you think might go down well?

    Current ideas I have:
    > Guess my weight (it is a fitness trade show)
    > Roulette (prizes/discounts based on the odds they bet on)
    > Prize wheel

Is it better to offer lots of little discounts (5%-10%) or one big prize at the end of each day?

Hello Andy, I do trade Shows all the time, I have some Pics of my last trade in Dover Delaware on my FB Fan Page if you would like to check it out www.ImTalkFusionFanPage.Info

One great marketing strategy you can do, which I do is offer a raffle. I give away a $50 Gift card to Office Depot, and I will contact them either way if they win or not. This is one way to get their contact information and do afollow up with... name, phone, email.

Games are good, but most trade shows I have been to have been fast paced, people want see what you got, ask some questions or get some literture, and then like to move on to the next vendor.

Either way, getting their contact info is KEY, because a day or so, after the show and they have had time to settle on everything they have seen, following up with them one on one and going over your product, service, etc.. has always worked great for me. :)

Great suggestion regarding contacting people regardless of weather they won or not, you could maybe combine this with "we will still offer you 10 off%" or something, so they aren't just a loser!

I have done similar things at a trade show and I would definitely recommend a prize wheel. When we did it, there was a line forming to spin the wheel (of course you gotta add something good to make it worth it). Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

if you give small discounts and at the end give big discount then you will become center of attraction in trade show.

It is hard to come up with ideas without knowing which industry.I would set up an autoresponder on laptop or ipad then have a wheel of fortune or something giving out various prizes with the best being cash and many brandable products ie discount coupons for your products, calculators usb memory sticks, pens etc all with your branding and all winners (you would give these out any way) but which ever prize they win tell them that prize qualifies them for a large draw (good prize like an ipad) just put in a name and email (possibly a phone number) to be notified if they win!!!

Then you have your lead to market to forever (until they unsubscribe)

Just a thought off the top of my head but I am sure you could improve on it but it takes away the hard sell.
