Im a young farmer and spend alot of time on the road driving tractors and agricultural vehicles to and from fields etc etc. I get the feeling that the general public are really impatient when it comes to being stuck behind a tractor and will do whatever, even if it is clearly not within the simple laws of physics, to try and get past!?? I just dont understand.....maybe someone could explain this for me?? Munchy
its called impatience. i don't like being stuck behind any slow moving vehicle. common courtesy says to pull over and let traffic pass.
Well what about if road conditions dont allow for pulling over or if there are not any lay bys? 9 times out of 10 most tractor drivers will pull over. I just cant understand why people take excessive risks in forcing themselves past on blind corners or down narrow lanes - just doesnt make sense. At the end of the day if car meets tractor or tractor meets car i think everyone knows who will come off worse.
the tractor will win, of course. but lots of drivers who operate tractors, school buses or any heavy machinery on a public road don't give a shit and will just keep putting along. if there isn't a place to pull over then i wait till i can safely pass. and there are people who risk their own safety by passing without thinking, i'm not one of them. i did a school bus gig years ago and i wouldn't let a line of cars pile up behind me, i would pull over first chance i got.
well thats good to hear. if space allows ill pull over whenever i can if its 1 car or 10 cars doesnt make any difference.....i just want to try and understand the minority that cannot wait, no matter what it takes. Its just annoying and frustrating as well as being scary sometimes when your in my position......often tractor drivers get the blame for accidents even if it wasnt their fault.
Yes it can be quite annoying especially if you don't stay to left so that other cars can pass. When you can't to that then people will just have to wait.
theres a difference tho between keeping left and driving in the gutter......personally i dont find it too easy or pleasant doing the latter. Id rather take up more of the road and pull over more often
