Tracking Visitors of other sites

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a tool or website which can provide me with a report of traffic stats of a website not owned by myself (random site). I'm looking for info like number of visits and what source they came from (ie, google, etc). Does such a tool/site exist?

    Thanks

No. There are tools which estimate, but inaccurate. You can see stats of sites with Extreme Tracking tool (visitors, referral sites, keywords etc.)

http://metrics.cc compiles information from alexa, google, and compete. It shows compete's estimated monthly visitors.

Alexa is not very accurate since it based on the people that have Alexa Toolbar installed. If your website is about SEO or web mastering - there will be a lot of visitors with that toolbar, however if you hold a website for young moms or some kids related website, there is a chance that none of your visitors (or very few of them) will come with Alexa Toolbar in place and thus your overall Alexa value is shown lower than it actually is.

I don't think there IS a way to get accurate info about random websites' traffic other than ask that info from the correpsonding site owners :)

How about tools that can record your visitor's location? I saw a website last week but I can't find it now. They have a small window at the bottom of their homepage that records where the visitors came from...it was like: "a new visitor from Australia visited this page 5 minutes ago, a visitor from Canada visited this page 2 hours ago, etc." --- does anybody know what kind of tool they are using?
