Tracking users across multiple sites

Is it possible - and right now I'm guessing not - to track users once they leave Site A for Site B and then come back to Site A.... as long as you have access to both Site A and Site B's Google Analytics?

I'd like to see how many people leave our school's main site for our blog site, then come back to the main site.

    Hi Michael,

Is your blog a sub-domain or completely new domain?

    Thanks!

    Sub domain, actually --- www.my-site.com and blogs.my-site.com

They both, however, have different Google Analytics tracking code.

Why do you have different tracking code? Best practice is to have single GA property per domain.

Various tracking codes were put in place before I started at this position. While most of our sub domains are part of a single GA property, there are a few that are not (such as blogs.my-site.com).

I'll see if I can get the ball rolling on changing the tracking code on blogs.my-site.com to be the same as my-site.com. When that's done, I'll probably come back and ask about tracking users between sites.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mike,
Are you using Google Analytics or Universal Analytics? Go with Universal if you are changing the codes now. Then you will have to do some small tweaks in the analytics setup to be able to see full URLs in the list of your pages just to have a better visibility whether it's your main site or the blog.
