Tracking stats from originating domain when doing 301 redirect

    I am doing a 301 redirect for a domain to my main site, but awstats doesnt appear to be showing traffic stats for the domain doing the redirect. Does anyone know how to overcome this as I want to know this data.

    Hi,

    If you have AWStats running on the domain doing the redirect, AWStats will count the number of 301 redirects in the domain. You see them under "HTTP Status codes".

    The version of AWStats running on your main site cannot see that there has been a redirect from the other domain. It cannot report anything about it. Even the referrers will not include the page doing the redirect; in fact, the referrers will be the pages linking to the URL doing the redirect. This cannot be changed as this information comes from the web server log files.
