Tracking PPC keywords

I am setting up PPC to direct traffic to one of my webpage. I would like to know how I can track each keyword to analyze which keyword is making sales. Will I have to create a separate landing page for each keyword? Something like www.mywebsite.com/1.html and www.mywebsite.com/2.html and send traffic from each keyword to each of these landing pages? Ofcourse each page will have a different affiliate track id. If I do have to create separate landing pages, is it ok if I just copy the same page over?

You need to go setup google analytics on your website. This way you won't have to make multiple pages, You can just tag your links. Not only that, but with a very small bit of tweaking you can see the ACTUAL keyword the person searched AND not just the keyword you bid on.

    Example:

End user comes to your site from keyword/phrase: Sony Digital Camera
Your Bid Term is: Digital Camera

I'm not sure if I'm getting what you mean. But from what I understand google analytics will only tell me that the user has visited my page and maybe clicked on the affiliate link. It won't be able to tell if that person has actually performed the required action.

Also, I'll be using Yahoo search marketing and not adwords.

You can set "conversion pages" in google analytics if I remember correctly, so every time someone goes to the conversion page after visiting your site the statistics like which keyword they were using to see your website, or where they came from will be recorded in GA.

    ^ Yes that's exactly what I mean.

But I wouldn't be able to know if that person has actually completed the action after visiting the affiliate link. Since I would be having only one page with a single link, I wouldn't be able to differentiate in my affiliate statistics. But if I direct each keyword to a different page, then I could set different links so I can track if people visiting using a particular keyword are actually generating sales or just clicking and leaving without completing the actions. I hope I'm clear.

You need an 'Ad Tracker' script. There's a number of them for sale around the net, it's a mistake to run a PPC campaign without one... as a good ad tracker script will tell you which one of your keywords are converting to sales, and which ones aren't.

Go to http://prosper202.com for the best free PPC tracking software available. (This is not an affiliate link, it's a genuine recommendation, I use P202 myself).
