Tracking Linkbait

I have a pretty basic question about link bait... I've seen it work well for my PR blog at times, but what I'd like to know is how to actually track incoming links to a specific page to figure out the effectiveness of a certain piece. I mean, on a blog, Wordpress lets me know when someone links to me, which is nice, but what about on other sites? When I check links in Google for a post's URL, I just get results for the main domain.

    Thanks.

If you're looking to find inbound links to a particular page you can try Yahoo with the following command::

    link:http://www.yoursite.com/yourfolder/yourpage.php -site:yoursite.com

This will return external inbound links to a particular page. I'm not sure how quick the links get indexed, depends on how often Yahoo crawls the linking site.

    Hope this helps a bit.
